All Personal Injury consultations are provided free of charge. We will also visit your home or hospital if you are unable to make it to our office. Cases are contigency-fee based, which means we get paid only when you get paid.
What to do if you are in an Automobile Accident:
1. Make sure everybody is taken care of and not in need of urgent medical care.
2. Get information: Driver's license, insurance information, location of accident, time/date, names of witnesses, whatever else applies.
3. Call the police if it hasn't already been done.
4. Cooperate fully with the police.
5. See a doctor; sometimes injuries may not be immediately apparent, but delayed manifestations often occur.
6. Do not decline going to a hospital if it is suggested to you by the paramedics or police. Your health is of the utmost importance!
7. Do not make any statements to any insurance companies and their adjustors (including medical claims) until you have spoken with your attorney.
8. If you are in pain go immediately to the emergency room of the hospital of your choice or call your private physician.
What to do for slip and fall accidents:
1. Make sure you are not seriously injured. With slip and fall accidents sometimes head injuries can cause concussions that may cloud your judgment. It is better to be safe than sorry.
2. We strongly encourage you to visit your doctor or hospital. If you cannot make it on your own, please call a paramedic or ambulance service.
3. Get information about the accident: sight of the accident, circumstances (water, ice, dirt on walkway, other debris), names and contact numbers of witnesses, and pictures if at all possible.
4. As with automobile accidents, do not make any claims or statements to insurance companies or adjustors until you have spoken with your attorney. Remember their job is to keep costs down, not compensate you fully for all of your damages!
Other types of accidents:
The same principles as in "slip and fall accidents" above apply for all other types of accidents. In short:
1. Make sure any and all parties involved in the accident are medically taken care of.
2. Get as much information about the incident as possible. Sometimes even things you may not feel are important may turn out to be. It's better to get too much information than not enough. At minimum you should record circumstances, witnesses (and their telephone numbers), and the like.
3. Do not speak with insurance companies or their adjustors until you have spoken with an attorney. |
